What is The Incredible HONK?
The Incredible HONK! is a unique youth group designed to provide an opportunity most kids don't get anywhere else! This is an ongoing performance-oriented program that includes coaching in brass, woodwinds and percussion. Weekly rehearsals will be about playing music, having A LOT of fun as well as the following:
- Select songs as a group and arrange popular music for brass band -- play the music YOU want to play!!
- Learn music by ear
- Manage rehearsals
- Create recordings, videos and promotional materials
- Create a band website
What is a brass band? What instruments Will Play in this Band?
Brass Bands play an eclectic variety of music ranging of traditional music for brass instruments such as New Orleans style jazz to arrangements of popular music. Typical instruments in brass bands include:
- Trumpets
- Trombone
- Tuba/Sousaphone
- Saxophone
- NOTE: Bari player with no horn? We may be able to provide you with one!
- Drum Kit or Percussion
- Other Possibilities -- Flute, Clarinet, Bass, Keyboard, Guitar, Voice
